As a Creative Arts Therapist I work toward fostering an atmosphere of relaxation, while inspiring communication through creativity. I work within numerous settings and populations including Monmouth Medical Center's Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital, servicing children and adults, MMC's Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder Outreach Program, Bristol Myers-Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson, New Brunswick, and The PALS program at the YWCA Union County servicing victims of domestic violence. Working within these populations afford me the opportunity to engage with the patient, the couple, as well as the whole family system to allow for a comprehensive therapeutic approach.
I, Alison Silver, MPS, ATR-BC, CFTP, am a client-centered clinician who approaches individual needs uniquely. Integrating the creative mind and traditional psychotherapy to establish and solidify your identity, ground and focus your thought process, and learn new and exciting ways to integrate yourself into your identity as an individual, a couple, or a family unit. I encourage my clients to become active partners in lieu of passive clients.
I hold a Master's of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute, and attained my ATR-BC (Board Certified Registered Art Therapist) from the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board). I have accrued training and certifications as a Certified Family Trauma Professional, Sand Play, and Domestic Violence and Trauma Therapist.
